It's incredibly disturbing that Ohio #Republicans passed this bill in the first place....but your advocacy pushed the governor to VETO it‼️🎉

As we watch corporations capitulate to this regime of the bullies, by the bribes, for the billionaires, let’s recall that ‘we the people’ are the ones who make the world go round. We must be the ones who decide what comes next.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

If you see headlines with "flat tax," it's a scam. This is a tax cut for the rich.

According to Policy Matters, over $1 billion will go to people making over $140,000 each year, rather than being invested in improving the quality of life in Ohio. No one making under $100,000 will see a dime.

The House Republican majority passed the "Big Ugly Bill."

According to CBPP, the bill would take away healthcare coverage from 15 million people and take away food assistance (SNAP) from an estimated 2 million children. 1/

Belief in the myth of meritocracy (ie, falling into just-world bias) also undermines support for redistributive policies. Because it makes it seem like rich people deserve to be rich, and poor people deserve to be poor. And thus that sharing the wealth would just reward the "undeserving." 3/

A 🧵 on the Ohio House state budget proposal (the House substitute budget bill).

We all need resources and opportunities to live a decent life. Yet today, too many families in Ohio are struggling to make ends meet. The latest proposal could make things worse for many of our neighbors. 1/

In his state of the state speech, Gov. DeWine said, “We cannot our full potential as a state until each Ohioan reaches their fullest potential.”

I agree 100% with that.

And, far too many people aren’t in a position to reach their full potential. 1/
