Here to talk knowledge management, product (design and production), software including AI, agile and lean, efficiency and productivity, all grounded in the greater good before profit. Workwise, I keep the lights on at @ezenka.bsky.social
Last week I worked on identifying systemic issues with a process, and at the same time on figuring out how to render cultural tropes impacting the experience of the process into tangible data points. Now to simplify it all into an algorithm ready for devs, which is not a simple thing to do at all…

Attended Amazon Cloud Day this week, interesting and informative. It left me feeling I somehow missed the AI transformation boat 2 years ago, and now everyone is adding AI to their work but on their own, by asking ChatGPT, and don’t want to bring in specialists.

Soent the day at #AWSCloudDay and I feel inspired and antsy to get playing with some of the tools I saw. I’d love to join a team that is doing some serious implementation of AI agents…

💻 Hate speech detection gaps

A study comparing 7 major LLM systems shows the same content can be flagged as hate speech by one model but not another, raising fairness concerns.

Someone is trying to convince me to sign up for something by showing me only things that are not part of the package on offer, and not even open to discussion. Spoiler alert, it’s not working, but I deeply admire their confidence while respecting the delusion.

Exactly what Erika says.
The reason experienced designers are worth the money isn't because they are better at drawing or "more creative," but because they have a better chance getting clients to make decisions they won't regret.

This isn't to shit on clients. Client don't know how to be clients. The job is helping them.

Team uses WhatsApp extensively "because that way people see messages" - but it's a mess, things get repeated and forgotten, there's no knowledge repository, and people treat it casually. Any advice on splitting comms across Slack (for structure) and WA (for reminders to check Slack)?

I’m seeing everywhere this lesson begging to be learned: exiting a toxic situation is always an acceptable solution.

Seems like 1st September is like January 1st, and all my bad habits will miraculously get under control starting today but it’s not true so am trying to rein it all in and instead do small yet sustainable tweaks. Anyone else?

Take 4"30 to slow down and watch this gorgeous short film on life through the eyes of 93 year old Irishman Owney McGoldrick.

Interesting how @linkedin.com think users come to its platform, as revealed in this interception user survey I took today. Clearly I’m a naive flower to think LI is meant for sharing and learning.
Also « feel connected with my network » feels… wrong - or is it just me?

It's Saturday, a great day to link in to a webinar on building AI Agents. Anything to avoid having to do the house chores I actually lined up.

So I learned that the request was actually to turn off “reply to all” only, and that subtle difference got lost at the first relay point. Which tells me there is an information stability problem in that organisation and I’m not surprised as they exchange primarily through WhatsApp audio messages.
Give me good reasons why a business should turn *off* their out-of-hours email auto response. Serious ask. Alternatively send me all your white papers and case studies on why such an automated response is best practice. Thanks.

Exercising is like doing the dishes. As you as you’re done, you have to do it again. Don’t do it for too long? Oh boy. Then, like a pot of boiling water on the stove, any fitness gain disappears if you don’t top it up consistently. It’s soul crushing to be honest. Why yes, I just finished a session.

Alt: animated cartoon on a loop of a person pushing a very large rock up a very steep hill, as soon as they’ve made some gains they and the rock slide down to where they began.

In today’s #BalancedTeam meetup, the topic of behaviours resulting in performative outputs and low/no value outcomes came up. Discussion identified giving people a chance to understand how they come across, and making leadership clarify expectations in terms of results. It’s not easy but necessary.

Accountants doing manual journal moves of expenses from an account to another without visible sense, reason or notes piss me off like nothing else. Now somebody needs to explain why a hotel receipt is in "Software Expenses". I shouldn't have to go back through accounts with a fine toothed comb.

Trying to diplomatically teach a **much younger** colleague what Google is, and why it's better than emailing me when they want to find publicly available information. This is not the future I was expecting, to be honest.

I really wish Meta weren't such (pardon my french) asshats about WhatsApp's connection to other tools - WA is mostly the place where messages die without action, because it's near impossible to connect to a task management tool - unless yakshaving and using a Business account. Sigh.

Managers who reserve negative feedback for official reviews, you’re not being professional nor responsible in your duty of care. Have the difficult conversation as soon as you spot the issue. Otherwise you’re personally enabling its continuation. #leadership #LineManagement #HR

I was wondering where I'd find a specific group of people to ask a n00bie question, and realised they'd be on Facebook. So I dusted off my old account, joined a group and asked my question. Now I'm sad that FB is still the only place for people who share hobbies to find one another and exchange.

There are more and more tools available to help with every part of a business, but the orchestration is still the weakest point. Too many tools get hyper specific, open an API and let end customers do the heavy lifting of customisation. Think holistically before committing! Ask us for advice...

I have decided to leave my Twitter account as it is and not delete it. I barely posted 10 messages on X but used to have fantastic conversations with good people before the switch, and I grieve those. It’ll give the AI some decent material to train off of, or at least I like to think so.
