As a community that stands up for human dignity, we must protect all workers from exploitation. We look forward to the implementation of a Residential Construction Minimum Wage following the completion of the study in LA.

Against wage theft? Against making taxpayers subsidize contractors who underpay their workers? Then you are FOR a RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION WORKER MINIMUM WAGE study.

Directly from the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades DC 36, why a Residential Construction Worker Minimum Wage is important:

Do you know what is really spooky… wage theft! Too many workers live in fear of a missed paycheck or are underpaid. When residential construction workers are not paid or underpaid, taxpayers pick up the tab.

Yesterday, the LA City Council voted on consent to move the motion forward for a Residential Construction Minimum Wage study. Thank you to the speakers and supporters who came to the council.

Tomorrow is National Immigrants Day. Our diverse L.A. communities make us stronger and build the future. A large proportion of L.A. residential construction workers are immigrants - and they are especially likely to have their wages stolen or be underpaid.

Homeboy Industries is with us! Are you?

A sincere appreciation to the individuals who came to the committee yesterday to bravely share their stories! Putting a face to the L.A. Residential Construction Worker Minimum Wage issue is vital in understanding why so many unions and nonprofits are coming together to demand this study.

There will be a hearing at the LA City Council tomorrow for a Residential Construction Minimum Wage study! It is important that we stand up for the dedicated workers that build the homes of tomorrow, to meet the city’s growing housing needs. It is about humanity and housing.

It is Anti-Poverty Week - did you know 1 out of 5 residential construction workers surveyed has been evicted? Or that 1 out of 10 residential construction workers surveyed has been homeless while working in the construction industry?!

We thank Housing Action Coalition for the support!

It is with great sadness that we reflect on the life and legacy of Kent Wong, a dedicated advocate for improving the lives of Angelenos. His work continues to resonate, inspiring future generations to carry on the fight.

Thank you to our city leaders who stood with us last week in support of a Residential Construction Worker Minimum Wage.

Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez @cd13.lacity.gov spoke powerfully on the financial precarity facing these workers.

Pablo is one of many individuals currently experiencing homelessness while working in the construction of residential homes for others. The challenges faced by these hardworking individuals deserve our attention.
October 7, 2025 at 12:37 AM
He is a construction worker who builds homes, but had to sleep in his car. The struggles of hard-working individuals is not lost on us and shouldn’t be on you either. Please watch Pablo’s story and get involved.

Meet Pablo in our three-part series. Pablo is one of many residential construction workers who cannot afford to live in Los Angeles, living in his truck while working to build homes for others.

This is a big win for struggling construction working families: nearly 70% of L.A. construction workers are considered “low-income,” three-quarters are one missed paycheck away from eviction, and 80% have been victims of wage theft.
