www.constructionworkerminimumwage.com
Listen to the challenges residential construction workers face, in their own words.

There is not a day that goes by without a worker being exploited. In Los Angeles, we can do something about it.

Have you ever looked around and wondered what is holding up construction? Los Angeles looks so UNFINISHED! Per a recent article in the New York Times, “... labor shortages are the leading cause of construction delays...”

New York Times - "Where Did All the American-Born Roofers Go?” It is a must-read, but don't worry, we included the highlights. They lay out the clear need for more construction workers.

✍️ You have the power to change LA! By supporting a minimum wage for residential construction workers, we can recruit and retain a LOCAL workforce to rebuild our communities while saving taxpayer dollars. Stand with us for a stronger Los Angeles.

We cannot heal if we can’t build.

Thank you for uplifting this vital issue. The residential construction worker is not immune to wage theft.

Eight out of ten residential construction workers surveyed in Los Angeles have experienced wage theft.

As we enter the anniversary of the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, we reflect on all the pain left behind.

The question we urgently still need to answer: Who will build the housing to solve L.A.’s housing crisis, exasperated by such loss in the fires?

It is more important than ever to advocate for working families and higher wages. Our families deserve better! In the new year, we want worker respect and higher wages!

There are a lot of reasons people end up unhoused, but when we pay working people living wages and grow our workforce to build more affordable housing, we can prevent the issue from widening.

Over 70% of Los Angeles construction worker families are considered "low-income," and nearly half are "very-low-income." Employers need to pay their fair share – California taxpayers pay about $3 billion per year to subsidize underpaid construction workers.

When it rains, it really pours for residential construction workers. This Holiday season will be a cold and wet one, which means countless workers will miss out on the wages they deserve. When it rains, they are not able to work; there is no such thing as a paid vacation.

What do we want this holiday season? A Residential Construction Minimum Wage study to START!

In our 4th week of an overdue promise.

One of the biggest crimes in the US is wage theft; taxpayers are left to pick up the tab. An increased residential construction worker minimum wage with enforcement of wage theft laws through a private right of action would lead to:

We are in our 3rd week past the 30-day deadline and are still waiting for the Los Angeles CLA to commission a study. Residential construction workers are only paid when they work, with no paid holidays, if they are paid at all, because wages are too often stolen.

Wednesdays are for demanding higher WAGES for our residential construction workers.

1 in 6 construction workers are paid under the table or misclassified, costing California over $1 BILLION per year in lost taxes.
