I'm still figuring my way around the place after migrating from X/Twitter, but I figured I'd share a little introduction in the mean time, so hello! I'm Pam. I have a physical disability called Arthrogryposis, and I absolutely adore books and totally not procrastinating my various writing projects.

Remember, everyone, regardless of ability, deserves a seat at the table. And I don't mean just for Turkey Day. Let today remind you to include all the people you love in all your celebrations. Send a text. Make a call. Check on a friend. Reach out. A little love goes a long way.

Listen, I'm tired of being diplomatic on social media about this. This guy doesn't care how many disabled people are kicked off government insurance. JD Vance said the Medicaid cuts are "immaterial." Elon called us parasites. Let's stop pretending this administration doesn't hate disabled people.
Russ Vought: "There's like, no downside to this bill. This is not one where you have to say pros and cons. It's all good."

Here it is—our first look at the proposed HHS/Medicaid cuts. If this is allowed to pass, many people like me will be institutionalized. Community-based services completely eliminated. Disabled people from birth through end-of-life will suffer. Many will literally not survive these cuts.

I realized it's been a bit since I shared a Wegovy update (or posted in general; can you tell I'm bad at social media). I'm now ~16lbs down in my weight loss journey (which I started pre-shots back in December), and I'm starting to fit into XL shirts, which I haven't been able to do in decades. 🥰💙

I didn't think I was getting much benefit from Wegovy yet (I'm only on 0.25mg), but after a mess up with my shot this week where none of it was injected (will be talking to my doctor tomorrow about it), the amount of food noise I'm dealing with is ROUGH, especially after going two weeks without it.

I've been trying to figure out why my allergies were acting up more than usual lately, and I just realized it's because my air purifier had somehow turned off at some point this week. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I just finished the second book of the Shepherd King duology by Rachel Gillig and I'm SO happy I decided to pick it up. The magic system alone was fantastic and I think it's going to stick with me for a while. 💙📚

I'd like to file a complaint: the classic rock radio station just played a Green Day song and now I feel old.

I finally got to watch Wicked with some friends, and it was fantastic. I understand the hype now!

I realized I never shared the news here, but I'm nearing the end of my first week on Wegovy and it's a relief that so far I haven't noticed any side effects. I'm on the lowest possible dosage, so that could be it, but still. Hopefully in the long run this will finally help my PCOS problems! 🤞

While I'm pretty proud of myself for managing a few things independently while my mom-who is my primary caregiver-has been in the hospital these past few days (she's fine!), I seriously underestimated how exhausting and painful it is to do such simple things.

Honestly if/when this ever happens, I'll probably start crying out of pure joy. I SO badly want this to be a thing!

I achieved what to me is perhaps one of the biggest accomplishments I've had my entire life living with my disability: I put on a sweater without any assistance. It's such a simple thing, but I'm honestly so happy I might cry.

Just got the last of my Christmas gifts delivered. I think this is the earliest I've gotten my holiday shopping finished.

I just got a reminder notice that my disabled parking placard expires in January, which means I get to deal with the headache of getting the proper forms filled out again. 😩

Despite not touching it for years, I suddenly have the urge to start playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons again.

I forgot how much I missed browsing bookstores. Local bookstores are never really an option for me for accessibility reasons, but Barnes & Noble finally reopened near me after originally closing years ago. It was so nice wandering around it with a friend this afternoon. 💙📚

It's been a rough few days thanks to my own carelessness causing some major back issues, but things are finally feeling a bit more normal today which is a huge relief.

I know compared to the rest of the US temperatures in the mid-50s are likely not a big deal, but as a Floridian I am suffering this morning.

All my plans today wound up being thrown out the window because chronic pain left me stuck on the couch with a heating pad all day. Ah, the joys of being disabled. 🙃
