@housedemocrats.bsky.social Lets be real clear about this. You have one opportunity to make a difference to your base. The debt ceiling debate is coming up. If you ROLL OVER and try to be the “Adult” in the room, you will lose my support!!! #USDemocracy

Well, that was true to weeks ago, but things are not going so well for Trump and the Republicans. When it gets close to March 14, they will need Democrats to pass a budget and raise the debt ceiling. Democrats should exact concessions...

They better not vote to raise the debt ceiling!

@warren.senate.gov it is time to filibuster and hold the debt ceiling hostage like there's no tomorrow. Give the GOP a taste of their own medicine. We've had enough of going deeper into national debt so the rich can get richer.

Then give the R's a taste of their own medicine. Obstruct in any way they did in past debt ceiling fights. Get creative. Doing nothing while 21st century robber barons loot the nation is complicity.

Norm Ornstein argues that House Dems should say right now that Repugs will get no votes from Dems to bail them out on budgets, spending bills, continuing resolutions to avert gov't shutdowns, or extensions in the debt ceiling.

Because things are too desperate for the usual messy give-and-take.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk are not tiptoeing toward autocracy
Democrats need to do more than put up speed bumps.

How about your pledge to obstruct every bill republicans bring up and vote no on everything period? As a party preferably. Even on budget/debt ceiling? Get hardcore let them fail!

Not a single vote to fund the government or raise the debt ceiling until Musk and DOGE are gone.
Van Hollen: "There's no Article 4 in the Constitution that gives Elon Musk that authority, and the way he's been 'delegated' this authority is illegal, and the actions he's taking are illegal, and we need to shut down this illegal operation."

Start assembling a general strike with the public, be very public about potentially shutting down what’s left of the federal government by refusing to pass the debt ceiling, publicly call their Republican colleagues craven shitweasels, the list goes on and on and on and on and on and

Words are cheap. Hold the debt ceiling hostage until this DOGE, coup bullshit stops.

Then Dems should follow through and refuse to vote for any funding package or debt ceiling increase unless Musk and DOGE are removed.
