I root for underdogs. And kindness. And democracy. Also: writer, critter rescuer & bleeding heart.
When we wax nostalgic for a prior Republican presidency, it's clear that we can't afford to sit this one out...
So they didn’t like the ad. Let’s just post Reagan’s 5 min speech against tariffs as it appears on YouTube.

Over and over. On all platforms (some of y’all are still on X).

What's the greatest threat to Trump?
Epstein Files

Who knows what's in the files?
Former case prosecutor Maureen Comey

Who's Maureen Comey?
James Comey's daughter

Maybe Trump's 'revenge' motive is a smokescreen. Maybe it's really about buying his daughter's silence by threatening her dad?

Wouldn't it be a hoot if tomorrow's Jimmy Kimmel guest lineup included:

- Kamala Harris
- Zohran Mandami
-Professor Lawrence Tribe
- Laurence O'Donnell
...and a bunch of constitutional experts analyzing the First Amendment?

After yesterday, I've been wondering more than usual why Trump is driving the economy off a cliff.

Here's a terrifying answer that totally fits.
I hear people all around me saying, “They are going to crash the economy. Surely they don’t mean to crash the economy.”

I beg to differ. This is curated failure open.substack.com/pub/jesspipe...

Oh, the irony!

After all the crimes Trump's committed...
All the lasting damage he's done...
All the crap he got away with...

Trump may have slashed his own Achilles heel by spotlighting the Epstein story--a story he's part of.

What a fitting end it would be to this mess, don't you think?

Happy post National Ice Cream Day.

I scream, you scream, we all scream: release the Epstein Files!

The world is just too peopley today, so let's focus on our fine feathered friends! Spotted these 3 in my 'hood within a 24-hour period.

(I'm no nature photographer, just a fan, but I couldn't resist trying to snap them.)

Wow: under the Big Betrayal Bill, the guy who just spent $50M on his wedding (not in the US, of course) will increase his net worth by $3B over the next few years. From OUR tax dollars!

…while 3+ million of the poorest Americans lose SNAP and 10+ million lose healthcare.*

Beyond shameful.

This is the greatest thing I've seen all day. I thought it was one thing, and it turned into another.

And the dog coming over and then backing away...chef's kiss.

Yes, this!

And also, it drives Mr. "Your Favorite President" Crazy.
"Poll numbers by themselves don’t do much. They’re not magical talismans that can be waved at Trump, like garlic at Dracula, to force him to retreat. The polls can help strengthen the nerve of individuals and the will of institutions to resist Trump and Trumpism."

Why Trump’s Sinking Poll Numbers Matter
Plunging popularity can’t by itself defeat Trump. But it can help juice the opposition to Trumpism.

Yes, this! Just 2 days after the President crashed the economy and skyrocketed consumer prices, what did the Senate do?

Vote to give more obscene tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans, while stripping healthcare from the poorest.

That's their priorities. They don't even try to hide it anymore.
True fact! We average Americans pay dearly for our billionaires, both in the taxes we pay to make up for their massive freeloading & in our quality of life, which is lower bc our leaders prioritize lining the pockets of the tiny billionaire majority over protecting and supporting the majority.

If you're worried about your Social Security (and who isn't), please read this article. It's incredibly informative and also reassuring.
The Trump/Musk/GOP Regime is begining its assault on Social Security. It won't end well, as I discussed in PN last year.

Besides all the chaos, cruelty & corruption...I really cringe at the way MAGAs throw around the "R word." (Nope, not gonna say it.)

I have a sibling who was called this often in childhood. It was excruciatingly hateful then & it's hateful now.

In my opinion, it also invokes the Nazi mindset.

This feels right to me. It explains a lot of what's going on right now. They don't care. They're incapable.

So when Trump & Co. say we're going to go through "a little bit of pain"--which they seem to be saying more & more--it doesn't mean a thing. If anything, they relish the thought.

I'm proud of myself for sitting through #SOTU last night. I didn't think I could, but I found that muting the volume and just reading the closed captions made it...bearable.

Made me wonder how many of us have a visceral reaction to that voice these days?

Sounds ludicrous, but here we are.

Hope
Trust
Compassion
Stability

Happy to say that I received an email from my Dem Congressman (who I've been bugging) today.

It said he's received "thousands of messages from constituents" who are "outraged" by Trump's actions.

He's holding a telephone town hall on Monday. This is good.

Have you heard from your Rep?

If they chose, bazillionaires like Trump, Musk & the tech bros could make life better for millions while barely touching their fortunes.

Instead, they’re demanding MORE huge tax cuts, while stripping modest benefits like Meals on Wheels from the very poorest Americans.

Unfathomable greed.
