This is how it happens! So many things in the US we’re told aren’t possible. We returned to Chicago and rapidly got a tour of the most abysmal infra. An old people mover, then an old bus to the parking lot. Then stroads feeding interstates, and interstates for over an hour to Milwaukee. Depressing.

Any idea who is leading/participating in the street design/build work? Kind of a strange mix of interests.

It's not for the faint of heart, but we all should be able to walk out our front door & get to transit, the corner store, on our bikes without fighting for our lives. Our elderly shouldn't be stuck inside all winter because we don't do winter maintenance & they can't risk falling.
