Working to make Whitefish Bay streets safe for everyone, and be a more welcoming home to future neighbors and friends.

Milwaukee DPW clearing car and bike lanes at *the same time.* All the haters have convinced themselves that, of all people, snow plow drivers would be the ones who can’t figure out how to navigate them. Took a single snowplow to prove them wrong! Was a lovely day for a bike ride on the new infra.

Because our street design is so bad, a "medical event" somehow resulted in a car buried inside the school. Trying to put a finger on some sort of systematic failure that allows that to happen. Could have easily been a mass casualty event on any other day. www.wmtv15news.com/2025/11/26/c...

It's really hard to capture at night, but all these headlights cause your eyes to clamp down and you can't see the trail or street in front of you. By the school, it's basically impossible to see kids walking because of the intense brightness of lights. Better infra can help, but it's an arms race.

Wishing them all the best, but Port Washington road is a hellscape and this location is reachable by bike pretty much only by an incomplete sidewalk network. You can however, try out one of the oldest and weirdest bike lanes in all of Wisconsin

You think this is just some over the top shitposting. Just like 48 things wrong with this one paragraph of our "safety study." Literally a sign in the bike space that DPW put there!

It’s not perfect but it was struggling to be a habitable place.

We’ve now lost about 5 trees that will never return, sacrificed at the altar of parking. This corner already feels forgotten and lifeless, and it’s only going to get worse as 100+ parking spaces steal every last inch of what’s visible here.

Even in a *school zone* directly next to the *high school* we can’t bring ourselves to inconvenience drivers.

Weird this sign doesn’t work either

Let’s check in on our new “infrastructure” by the high school

Had time after one driver cut me off in the crosswalk to point out the other driver in a Porsche SUV running the red light by seconds in a different direction. At a location WFB is almost certainly going to make even more driver-pampering in the next year or two.

Come learn about how transportation and racism affect people just trying to go to school, on this Ruby Bridges Walk to School day of events. Everything but the evening event is on your own schedule, but please register if you are attending the evening event.

Hey man you can’t park there.

If you go to an upper floor office on Silver Spring? The thing that’s striking is all you see is asphalt and roofs. You could add 3 stories to most buildings, expand sidewalks, add a bike path, and add another row of trees and it would feel like a forest. We just have leaders with zero imagination.
July 6, 2025 at 8:39 PM
Yeah the driver did this, but it’s our completely non-existent leadership on making silly, dangerous, and illegal things like this way harder. A single flower pot would basically eliminate the issue. But we’re too far up our own ass to see simple solutions.

On a Sunday morning, about 4 blocks from multiple elementary schools, a daycare, and a church. Who could have guessed with streets like this
June 30, 2025 at 1:16 PM
Everything you need, really.
June 28, 2025 at 3:19 AM
Look at how our tree density plummets in the biz district. This contributes to it being almost physically unbearable there this week. One block off, under the trees, and you instantly feel the temp drop and it’s manageable even at 100+F outside. Why do our leaders hate businesses so much?
June 23, 2025 at 7:09 PM
Bike lanes won’t alone save us, but to be putting any priority at all on single occupancy cars at this point is deranged. If we cared about the climate in WFB, we’d be going in a very different direction.

Local FD doing their part to absolve a broken system of it's responsibility in nearly killing an elderly man: "A 79 year old man was injured when his car rolled over and ended up on the Milwaukee River Bank at the I-43 exit to Hampton Ave on Wednesday. The man was transported to Froedtert Hospital."

Didn’t take long to see two older folks, likely grandparents walking a child in the street around one of these (note the orange cones they use as street markers of where a sidewalk is being replaced)

Someday we'll get that demand path paved at the bottom that's turning into a trench

While any new housing is a good thing, it's frustrating that some of our North Shore munis continue to be absolutely addicted to driving. It's directly on a bus line! This whole area is extremely bike and walkable! Groceries 5 blocks away! Superb location for a car-free life but we just .. can't.
