My wife drifted out of sight in the ocean.

No lifeguards. Just me, my book, and every disaster my brain could conjure.

I never thought much about gift giving.

But all the best gifts say the same thing.

Before my wife could admit she’d forgotten a hat, the elevator opened to two coatless children fighting in the corner. Otherwise empty. We stepped in.

“Effortless” is one of the most demanding performances we ask of people.

This is a quick piece about beauty standards, invisible labor, and why looking natural is rarely cheap or easy.

Respect the hustle.

I want to be a father someday.

But a subway ad made me wonder:

What kind of father chooses his child’s traits in advance?

I need to reread Othello

As much as I appreciate Othello himself, personally, Iago is one of most memorable characters in English literature.

Of course, the two characters work because they are put in opposition. There is no Iago without Othello, and vice-versa.

Stories of betrayal; so compelling

I don’t really get into football anymore.

But reading about the Colorado Buffaloes is storytelling magic.

Deon. Shedeur. Travis, etc.

It’s like a roman councilman guiding the rise of his sons, both by blood and adopted, into a family legacy
