I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

She wasn't even flying internationally. She was flying to Texas.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

I can't help but think that programs that support security in old age are at risk now for the same reasons programs to support independence for young adults were cut in the 1980s. They are effectively eliminating resistance blocks.

Republicans are promoting regressive taxation. They are insulating the wealthiest from the costs of government responsibilities. This will further strain the valuable work of charitable organizations and accelerate wealth consolidation by leveraging the humanity of those closest to the vulnerable.

We must pass Medicare for All.

Gov. Kelly Ayotte should join the lawsuit with the 25 other states seeking emergency funding for SNAP. Is she more worried about retribution from Trump than she is for the hunger of her constituents?

Republicans BLOCKED it. So Trump won't use emergency funds to keep SNAP running, and Republicans won't let any bills pass. Shameful.

It's been a noble defence of health care access. We could have held out for that. With the threat of an end to SNAP, the stakes just tipped. Food is fundamental. Did the Republicans just win the shutdown showdown by intensifying the threat of pain? Shouldn't we reopen the government to ensure food?
