Big Tech is plotting a $100M lobbying and campaign spending blitz to block AI regulation at the state and federal level.

We must stop this takeover before it's too late.

It was a beautiful Sunday in Portland. Farmer’s markets, the Portland Marathon, peaceful protests, and some views of Mt. Hood. This city is vibrant, peaceful, and resilient. We do not need a federal occupation, and we sure as hell don’t want one.

Well, big news. I am planning to move the Space Library to a new home. And I need some help - in 35 years I've never asked for funding, donations or subscriptions for my Space Report, to keep it independent, but now I need to raise some additional funds.

Aside from how horrific a second Trump presidency would be for the whole world, I'm also guessing the Musk-Trump alliance would mean Starlink & dark skies will *never* be regulated.

It's a pretty minor thing, but yeah Trump would probably also be the final nail in the coffin for global dark skies

Amazing work! Find your local NWS office and give them a follow. One of the things I really missed from the old place.
OK...the NWS Bot collection is now fully populated and ready to go. I'm sure bugs will come up along the way, but I think it is 95%+ stable.

There's an index page at nws-bot.us including a map (borrowed from NWS) to find the right bot for the area you want to follow.

The first 40 accounts are now active, and the automated updates should be running.

There are 122 local NWS offices, and it takes a few minutes per site to create and configure the account, but I'm working through them. Holler if there's one you want prioritized.

One of the reasons this hurricane got so strong so quickly is because gulf waters are extremely warm. Why are they so warm?

Guess.

Just a reminder that the future of the climate crisis is now. We're living in this disaster movie. The ending, though, still hasn't been written.

We may just be the only active NASA mission on the Bluesky platform, so be sure to tell all your friends they can see stunning images of Mars from the best camera ever sent to another planet that we're here, and help us surpass the 500-follower threshold.

And thank you to all who follow us now!
