Totalitarian regimes are not ones in which people stop working.

The world does not suddenly become tinged with sepia when you are no longer free. Sunlight will still shine. Jobs will still exist—indeed, the issue you may have is it becomes harder to not work than ever before.

Only thing more predictable than the economic meltdown is the unshakeable sense of infallibility Elon, Donald et. al. no doubt feel about their convictions, which is why this will get much worse. Not gonna say "before it gets better", because whether that happens is in doubt.

A large percent of our population now believes the Golden Rule is not “do to others as you would do unto yourself”, but rather “harming yourself is good so long as you are able to harm those you hate much more”. It’s a weird, but oddly logical, perversion.
