From the Design Goals section: “1-indexed: Humans don't start counting from 0, only clankers do. You aren't a clanker aren't you?” 😂
read this Readme and tell me you wouldn't want such a language

I'm going to have to learn ocaml now
should I vibecode my own programming language using ocaml (of which I did one semester 15 years ago)? it'd be R's successor (yes I'm delusional), purely functional, no integrated pkg manager (nix will handle that), lists and data frames are the main object

Inquiry about Japanese idiom: what would 掛布, which I understand is literally "hanging cloth," signify in a rude response to an email?

RSS readers are great for blogs (which still exist!), but you can subscribe/create your own feed with publications, newsletters (keep ‘em out of your inbox & put ‘em in your RSS feed), news alerts, sports results, webcomics — almost anything on the web.
Like a lotta folks, I miss Google Reader. But RSS feed aggregators are still a thing! And they're not like social media platforms; you don't have to wait for your whole friend circle to settle on one and then commit to that forever.
My really popular barebones RSS comic from November 2022! I hope it helps you stay updated with your favourite webcomics, artists and websites.
I’m just a simple guy who’s passionate about RSS feeds, comics and staying updated using both. Go forth and make the feed of your dreams!

I love good research/data detective stories! It’s amazing how weird things sometimes still happen even if one is being careful, but careful work means that weird things like this can be found and resolved.
Last year we encountered a strange glitch in one of our surveys…the word “yes” was being replaced with the word “forks” in response options. Read on to learn how we unraveled what was causing it, how we ensured it didn’t impact the data quality, and what to do if it happens to you!
How a glitch in an online survey replaced the word ‘yes’ with ‘forks’
Dating back to at least early 2023, a bizarre and alarming technical glitch started popping up in some organizations’ online surveys and forms.

I discovered today that I blocked approximately 11,000 accounts over in the other place. No scripts, no lists; just the slow and steady process of blocking nincompoops as I encountered them.

What do folks think of surveys where the linking ID is created by the participant using a suggested nomenclature (e.g. two-digit birth month + first two letters of middle name + last three digits of phone number). Shamelessly pinging @cghlewis.bsky.social but would love to hear from anyone!
