Today the Episcopal Church commemorates the consecration of Samuel Seabury as its first bishop in 1784. Seabury was consecrated in Aberdeen by Scottish bishops and, upon his return to the U.S., was recognized as Bishop of Connecticut. prayer.forwardmovement.org/calendar/sam...

I'm just a lowly art historian, but in moments like these I always think back to one early sign of Trump's wanton, pointless destructiveness: his demolition of the priceless & irreplaceable Art Deco relief sculptures on facade of the Bonwit Teller building, which he tore down to build Trump Tower

Jesus reigns in heaven, not on earth (he rejected earthly kingship). Christians bear witness to their faith by emulating Jesus’ example of sacrificial love, not by imposing theocracy.
Chip Roy: "The truth is the marxist, radicals, and Islamists the Democratic Party promoted this weekend, they cannot handle the truth. The truth is that there is a king and that king is Jesus. And the president has been willing to say it, & Charlie Kirk was willing to say it & he got killed for it."

Fun fact: there is at least one place in the Pentagon where you can find Mark Milley’s portrait hanging: the dry cleaners!

This is incorrect: (1) Department of War was just the Army, not the Navy and Marine Corps; and (2) the President does not have the authority, only Congress can make that change in the law. Be better, @npr.org.

The name “Department of Defense” was codified in the 1949 amendment to the 1947 National Security Act and can only be changed by an act of Congress. nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/286...

I love the photo — it’s 1943, FDR in Morocco enroute to the Casablanca conference, being saluted by soldiers whose shadow you see, generals (including Patton and Devers) arrayed saluting both the president and soldiers, FDR’s hat and hand over his heart.
I just received my first copy of the book!

Yeah you wouldn't want a logistics guy without any combat experience becoming commander in chief of the on of the largest multinational military forces in the world he'd probably mess it up
All four-star general nominees must now interview with President Trump. The goal is to "ensure they are war fighters first — not bureaucrats,” says the WH.
Some fear it could politicize the general officer corps.

Most incredible about this is that IU-Bloomington has long been the no. 1 university in the world for teaching Asian languages and cultures, with many programs found nowhere else.

They're slashing many of IU-B's most distinctive programs with zero thought or debate. They probably don't even know.
Bloodbath in Indiana higher ed as public colleges and universities ordered to eliminate 20% of all degree programs, apparently based purely on student demand (=enrollments) and not any rational calculation of need or value.

Indiana public colleges cut almost 20% of degrees
Public Indiana colleges and universities have eliminated 19 percent of their degree programs to meet requirements added to the state’s budget, according to the Commission for Higher Education.
