It was about a barista (possibly café owner) spiking the MMC's coffee with something spicy to see if he could take the heat. If you have clues about this book, it's appreciated! TIA!!

My senior Engish teacher was pretty cool. In her class, we listened to Iron Maiden (Rime of the Ancient Mariner) and Tom Lehrer (various songs, but I particularly remember National Brotherhood Week). It was my first exposure to Lehrer, but not my last. 🥀
