The discussion here is very interesting. It’s unlikely anyways that intentionality can be pinned on Russia in the Eagle S or other cases. But it doesn’t change the fact that this type of incidents - intentional or not - are unacceptable and by using the shadow fleet, Russia is responsible
The replies to this show that a lot of people have lost the agility to process new information that challenges their priors without resorting to conspiracy, insult or non sequitur. Eg accusations that Post is publishing this for clicks, or that aim is to discredit Finnish investigation.
I politely disagree. I don’t think we can pick & choose whether we believe anonymous sources depending on whether we like what they say or not. The Post journalists who wrote the story are experienced professionals with good sources. I don’t think it’s appropriate to berate them for this reporting.

Shadow tanker JAZZ, who likely broke down three times last two weeks, is now anchored in Danish waters.
If one reads UNCLOS as closely as one did when YI PENG 3 was let go it is hard to not read it as an obligation or at least an opportunity for Denmark to do a port state control.

So far the Finnish reaction to the latest undersea cable damage has been excellent:
- Finnish authorities stopped the suspected saboteur Eagle S and directed it to Finnish territorial waters for investigation
- police and border guard boarded ship and took control
- 3km no fly zone around the ship
