Just thinking about how fucked up mega-rich people must be, because they can't even enjoy their money properly, because the most enjoyable thing to do with money is to use it to fix people's problems.

@juliusgoat.bsky.social makes the point that we should, to slightly change a well worn phrase, impeach early and impeach often.
Or for those of us not elected to Congress, that we should, daily, make our elected officials acutely aware they should do so or face challenges at the ballot box

@juliusgoat.bsky.social makes some great points and things that should make us all stop and think rather than just reacting.

Why is this story not in an American paper

Let’s tell more stories of how responsible governance can benefit more people and give them increased opportunities, instead of the supposed inevitably of the oligarchs having everything there is

New Mexico made childcare free. It lifted 120,000 people above the poverty line
The state, which has long ranked worst in the US for child wellbeing, became the first and only in the country to offer free childcare to a majority of families

Here is my best guidance for action, rendered beautifully by the great John Lithgow. I first published these lessons more than eight years ago, in late 2016. They open the twenty chapters of "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century."

“…those who have the power to do something also have the obligation not to look away.”

And if we’re not looking away, what do we do with what we learn? Nothing? Something? I hope the latter.
Yes, overwhelm is the point, but it’s not the only point. The cruelty is the point. The lies. The destruction of our Constitutional order. These things are also the point.

Just a reminder: having a functional moral compass right now is going to make you feel bad all the time; don’t mistakenly hate yourself for that.

A reminder in dark times: kindness, mercy, decency, and respect towards the least of us enrages Trumpists. It burns them. It’s like a mirror that shows them how they fall short of humanity.

Kindness and decency towards the people Trumpists hate is not just right; it torments Trumpists.

I hope this is the race, and I hope we win.

The alternative is that there is no hardship white conservatives will not endure in order to see women & children owned as property by white men, and all the many targets of their bigotry murdered by the millions, and that they'll keep voting regardless.
We're in a race between how fast the public will feel the effects of the GOP destruction of the social safety net & modern regulatory state that has come into existence since the 1930s & made life more livable for non-rich people...and how fast the GOP can secure an election-proof monopoly on power.

“We're going to have to be our own leaders now. The ones we hired are broken.”
I wrote about the fascist nightmare of recent weeks, the entirely insufficient response by those who should be in opposition, and how I think we can be our own leaders. Embracing a diversity of oppositional method to face down a gang of thugs who hate all diversity. www.the-reframe.com/its/

I think Americans, blessed with relatively stable government for a long time, assume there is someone, some adult, who will step in and make things right before the President does anything REALLY bad.

There’s not.
