My heart is so full this morning. My kid crawled in my lap for some quality snuggle time (he’s usually too busy getting into things to sit on my lap any more LOL), he helped me scramble my egg, and we talked about dinosaurs while we enjoyed breakfast.

A safe home. A happy toddler. I’m too lucky.

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people

I’ve decided to leave Scientific American after an exciting 4.5 years as editor in chief. I’m going to take some time to think about what comes next (and go birdwatching), but for now I’d like to share a very small sample of the work I’ve been so proud to support (thread)

All right, I am realizing there are a lot of bird people here, so here's a photo from a trip to Texas about a year ago. See what kind of reach this gets.

Good morning.

Word of the Day is as beautiful as it is underused. ‘Confelicity’ is finding joy in the happiness and success of others.

Me, looking at books in the charity shop: I used to have this and I've got no idea what happened to it, maybe I'll buy it

Steph: You donated 500 books last month, this was literally your copy

1 year & 11 days sober. I almost didn’t come into work—I feel so bad. but I just told myself I don’t have to be perfect, just present.

I did get the second chapter of my book finalized yesterday so that’s a victory (to put lightly, I feel dread just thinking about the book). onwards.

Why does People Magazine name a new "Sexiest Man Alive" every year? It doesn't make any sense to name a new one if the old one is still alive. The new one should have to fight the old one to the death. Like Highlander.
