One of Audibles more explicable recommendations- you liked smart and silly, here is some other smart and silly. Not sure how many @alicefraser.bsky.social readers would be unfamiliar with Pratchett, but I did like the sentiment.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

Every dollar that the Feds refuse to spend on their primary health, aged care and NDIS responsibilities leads to somewhere between $1.40 and $7.50 of expenditure required in the hospital system because of that $1.00 decision, depending upon the hospital. This is not new. We already know this.

Next week is Anti-Poverty Week
Right now, people on JobSeeker & Youth Allowance are forced to choose between rent, food or medicine. Poverty isn’t inevitable it’s a policy choice.
Call on the Govt to Raise the Rate to $82 a day so income support does what it should: help people through tough times.

For many of these folks it has meant less choice and less control than before the NDIS.

The severing of funding from duty of care/provider of last resort allows the most vulnerable people to be used as a pawn in the battle between scheme cost and provider profit/sustainability.
these are the folks who haven't had the same choice and control as other disabled people. these folks still live in old crappy group homes, with little to no change to their lives. they aren't funded enough to have anything like a decent life. every level of government knows about this

It seems so much harder to find quiet spaces since the emergence of noise cancelling headphones. I just had to leave a library quiet room, other users seemed unaware of how loud they were being themselves. It sucks being sensitive to noise while also having claustrophobic ears. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Recognition of Palestine MUST be combined with actions to stop the genocide.

With the deliberate assassination overnight of Al-Jazeera journalists and plans to permanently occupy Gaza, the Australian government must take meaningful action and suspend military contracts with Israel!

Penny Wong, 2003: "I say suspicion is not enough. To justify going to war we need more than suspicion. What sort of world would we live in if suspicion alone was justification for participation in unilateral military action outside the auspices of the UN? "
