Estragon: We always find something, eh Didi, to give us the impression we exist?

Vladimir: Yes, yes, we're magicians.
I got a phishing mail dressed up as the refusal of a payment I didn't make through a payment service I don't use in a shop I don't frequent for an item I didn't buy with an email account I don't have.

At this point I'm just confused if they actually want me to click something or not.

Looking up hemostasis of insects/arachnids and I can't find a single photo of coagulated hemolymph. Plenty of diagrams on the process, but zero photos. Weird.

Tried to make vegetarian phở, utter disappointment. The recipe I followed is based on shiitake dashi instead of beef - I halved the amount of water, did the MSG, added extra dashi powder, tripled the amount of shiitake. Broth still tastes like dirty water with phở spices :|

Big fan of this icon of prophecy that not only doubles as musical instrument, but can probably also be used as a mace in case some fool does not listen.
Idiophone: Bird of Prophecy (ahianmwen-oro), 16th–19th century
Class: Metal-Musical Instruments
Culture: Edo peoples
Medium: Brass, iron

I just noticed that - absurdly, insanely - I now prefer seeing those horribly soulless business stock images of linkedin-egregores pretending to be humans. Cosmic horror.
Aside from that most of the generated images for articles/products/whatever look like dreck, they signal a lack of care, cheapness, and laziness that I will associate with the author and subject of whatever they are attached to.

MORPHEUS: The human organism always requires soap operas. First, it was cheaply produced tele-novellas. Then, scripted reality shows. Next, it was individually created drama on streaming platforms.

MORPHEUS: You will soon each have your personal soap opera, created by token-transform algorithms.

This, but with everything else that uses generated images, too.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Hm, apparently some 20+ specimen of Chilean recluse spiders (Loxosceles laeta) have been spotted in the basement of a German university in Tübingen.

TBH even as a spider friend that's one import I would prefer to not settle and spread here. Sicariidae have some nasty venom.

I guess I now have to do a thread on shoes in ancient Mesopotamia in response to this (which happens to be from one of my favourite accounts).

I’m not an archaeologist, nor do I really know anything about shoes, but let’s go on this journey together.
can't believe this ancient mesopotamia shoe wearing ass said people need to dress up at the airport

Sorry for this one. I think few things push my commie button as much as those shit-goblins blackmailing anyone who wants to be able to buy groceries next month into paying their gambling debts. Abolish the whole financial market.
