County had good enough wind resources that like 15 years ago they developed a plan to make the co-op basically go net neutral for residential and it got spiked by NIMBYs bitching about aesthetics
Where I grew up had a 2 county electrical co-op. Shit was tight. Never went down even during 100mph windstorms.

What I want to understand is why this needs mains power to function. Diesel or gas backup gennies are common and will run so long as fuel is supplied so why not be using them during outages? This is like 50 year old datacenter tech at this point.

Muppet ass fish
The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.
