Thinking of the class of 2025 getting their GCSE results today.

- They lost their final year of primary school due to covid.
- They started high school in the height of the pandemic.

This year group overcame so many obstacles to get here today.

Well done! May your results open doors! 👨‍🎓

Back from A Level results day - tears of joy, of upset, and lots of hugs all round.
We read exceptional results and dream destinations, but for many students it is a huge achievement to get a C grade.

Well done. Well done all.

Congratulations to everyone collecting their A Level, T Level and BTec grades today 🤓

Whatever the results, you should be proud of reaching the end of your formal schooling - and be excited for your next steps.

Your future awaits!

A unique chance to see this one woman show, written and led by Vix Lowthion - teacher, parent and typical Gen Xer.

Explore the fun and the dark sides of the ubiquitous craze for nostalgia in the UK.

Extending the entitlement for Free School Meals from 25% of pupils to 29% of pupils (2.6million) is welcome.
But it's not enough.

@greenparty.org.uk would scrap the 2 child benefit cap and give all children a daily free meal.

That is what tackling child poverty really looks like.

If we have money for missiles & drones, we should have money for school buildings, support staff & resources.

Govt allocates 4.1% of GDP on education, down from 5.7% in 2010.

Why isn't this drop in funding - worth ££billions - not headline news?

We must invest in young people.

At the annual meeting of Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council I was nominated and elected to serve as chairman.

It's an incredible honour to take over the reins at such an exciting time in local govt & to represent the 25,500 residents of Newport & Carisbrooke in our town and across the island.

We need an education for life, not schools forced to become #ExamFactories
SATS tomorrow for too many.
For Xander - he will sit his first GCSEs. TWENTY FULL ON EXAMS.

Why do we do this to our children?! We need to get out of this exam dominated rut and put skills, curiosity and basic preparation for adult life first and foremost.

Reform can be beaten - but it will take work, and money.

Donate and volunteer.
Massive Reform landslide/ earthquake?
Turn-out was around 30% in local elections this time... not a majority.

If you are concerned and alarmed you can do something about it:
✅️1. Join a party
💰2. Donate or volunteer time to that party

How is it possible?!
