I have a real complicated stance toward any patriotic holiday but as a rule of thumb the best way you can support veterans is by not supporting the US military and dissuading any teenagers in your life from enlisting.

I'm not gonna tell anybody that they have to treat veterans with kindness (especially, ESPECIALLY if they are from anywhere else), but I also recognize that the combination of omnipresent propaganda + intentional, targeted systemic failures to which the military promises relief + recruiting teens

If given the choice, I'd rather describe what a sound is like rather than try to write it out — "the device made a sound like a dozen elephants spurting jelly through their trunks" rather than "FFFRRRBRRBBSHSHSSHBSHSBHB"

As we were preparing Induction for print, we wanted to reexamine how exactly Carmen plays and when she shows her hand; while it's a foregone conclusion to a Korps audience what her allegiance is, it was a bit strange that she was so blatant and talked so publicly.
