Also I wrote Ellen making noises like a broken squeaky toy when Carmen's fucking her lungs-deep and I think that's very funny

and so for those and a thousand other reasons you have these two characters ground under wheels they have thrown themselves under and would again a thousand times for their loved ones, working it out together in the wake of an argument, desperate to take every next step together.

all the while Carmen's inner monologue is screaming at Ellen to let her love her, because she can see that Ellen plays the dipshit and the genius with the same skilled hand, because she sees what Ellen can be and how much she is holding herself back because she always had to be the responsible one,

and vice-versa, Carmen has been deeply hurt, but she's pushing through that because she has wanted this so much for so long, and maybe it's not the healthiest way to have sex with Ellen for the first time but she's communicating that and they're working through it together,

both her own interiority and the way she perceives Carmen, because she KNOWS what Carmen is and she loves her anyway,

Writing Ellen's, where she's recently fucked up and she's by some definitions losing her virginity, but her fuck-up specifically had to do with making penetrative sex with Carmen possible to begin with, so it's both thoughtless and desperately romantic,

(It's not really a secret, but Carmen is probably my favorite Korps character, and a lot of that is because of how nuanced she is to write correctly, and how easy it is to get her wrong, by a little or a lot.)

So figuring out how to subtle her down some - guiding Volta to question her understanding of Hero/villain politics rather than outright spoon-feeding her the Correct Opinions, say, and having some cafeteria conversations either more obfuscated or no longer in the cafeteria.
