At a baseline I want the TGAs to be better cause it would just be less embarrassing but I don’t think point 2. applies to a show that’s watched almost entirely by people who are there to inhale trailers and ads.
The Awards have about as much cultural cachet as they do screen time.

Two things can be true: 1.) The Game Awards are meaningless and we shouldn't take them all that seriously. 2.) Award shows of its scale DO rewrite the mainstream history of the art form, whether they deserve to or not, and its okay to care that it's so thoughtless despite having that responsibility.

Idk if people want an RPG full of charismatic characters, incredibly refined “old school” turn-based combat, a story that knows how to balance humour and darkness, and that honours and celebrates the games that came before it they should really play Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age 🙂↕️
