Indeed, I fear the tech industry and our government are pushing this further apart
Life situations are bleak right now for a lot of people. In tech, the "Venn Diagram" of (1) positive work and (2) making enough money to support your family is increasingly non-overlapping. We all do what we can.

”But democracy is also in retreat internationally. Democracy – understood as the right to freely express one’s opinion, …is the foundation of peace both within countries and between countries.” 👏

Today in our @cedarssinai.bsky.social PhD program, I am lecturing about the history of #epigenomics. We cover seminal experiments by the labs of Allfrey, Kornberg, Allis & Grunstein, ending with ENCODE, Kellis and the histone code. Such an amazing field and a beautiful, revolutionary story!

As a researcher it is important to record your thoughts in real time. You don't have to be right, you can change your mind. You just need to be actively thinking, and in #science and #STEM and pretty much everything else, #writingisthinking.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.
