In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

We're watching the Trump administration systematically purge trans people from public life and the fucking media just hand waives it away as being about sports. This is why the Dem capitulation on this is so dangerous. It obscures and legitimizes what is being done to us.

The Trump administration effectively created a de facto bathroom ban at Brown University and none of the major media is covering it, and if they do, they character it as about sports. This is how the trans visa ban was enacted and characterized.

Brown University is ‘functionally inaccessible’ to transgender students after Trump settlement
“Everyone I talked to thought it only applied to sports. But it applies to everything," one transgender student told The Advocate.

It never occurred to me that Popes’ might have siblings and parents. How does Thanksgiving work? Can he take his mom out for a Mother’s Day Brunch as a normal person?
John Prevost knew there was a chance his brother could be elected pope. But Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was preparing for the conclave, shrugged it off when his older brother called from Illinois. "He said, ‘No way, not going to happen,’" his brother recalled.

Of course, it did happen.

if we're defining a constitutional crisis as a breakdown in the rule of law or the erosion of constitutional protections, then we’ve been in one for a long time (see: US prisons.) what we’re seeing now is just that breakdown becoming more visible to people who were never directly targeted before

Violence against trans people in the US disproportionately impacts Black trans women. This violence doesn’t occur in a vacuum: It’s fueled by lawmakers who push anti-LGBTQ+ policies and work to weaken gun laws.

Joy and rest are radical acts of resistance. The function of oppressive powers is to oppress your joy and hope, to exhaust you into compliance and defeat. Fight for, embrace and appreciate every moment of joy and rest
Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

Reskeet this if you refuse to pay for BlueSky+ until trust & safety decides to prioritize marginalized users.

I want to add that these trans people serve in critical roles in the military, they aren’t expendable. The military has spent time and money training them, and they have served honorably.

This makes the military weaker, dishonors the service members themselves, and will be a dark stain.

We remember and honor trans and gender-expansive young people whose lives were tragically cut short.

Amidst extremist lawmakers’ increasingly dehumanizing attacks on the very existence of LGBTQ+ people—especially trans youth—passing stronger gun laws to #DisarmHate is more important than ever.
