While I can’t say for sure, it’s likely that ‘trist’ in Norwegian comes from Latin tristis through German from French, rather than from any French occupation of Vinland or England. Here’s a dictionary entry that mentions its origins.

Did a 1-hour Zone 2 ride on the indoor bike, and this time CO₂ peaked at 1617 ppm—about 200 ppm higher!

The buildup was slower, but by the end, the air quality was worse. Crazy how fast CO₂ accumulates indoors during workouts.

Just finished an interval workout in my basement, and my CO₂ monitor tells me I basically turned it into a high-altitude training chamber. The spike was real—over 1400 ppm! Had to air it out fast before I started feeling sluggish. Amazing how quickly air quality changes when you’re pushing hard.

Just finished reading Outlive by Peter Attia for the third time—such a solid book. The insights on longevity are great, but what really stands out is the focus on emotional health. Longevity isn’t just about diet and exercise; it’s about relationships, mindset, and purpose. Highly recommend!

Last night’s pizza and ice cream indulgence came at an immediate and measurable cost. My resting heart rate and respiratory rate were both elevated, and despite my best efforts, I only managed 6.5 hours of sleep instead of the recommended eight. Tracking and analyzing data motivates me to do better.

Just finished The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins—such a freeing perspective. Let others do their thing, let go of control, and focus on your own growth. Sometimes the best answer is simply to let go.

Spam accounts are getting ridiculous. Just look at this: every single one of them with the same variations of ‘Isabella’ and identical vibes. It’s beyond obvious and obnoxious. Can we please do something about this? It’s clogging up the space for real connections. @bsky.app

First day back at school and the attendance is… questionable. Is it the snow-covered streets or the classic ‘Thursday-start’ blues? Either way, this winter wonderland is making the view from the classroom feel like a scene from a holiday postcard. ❄️ #BackToSchool #SnowDay #WinterVibes

Snowing here too! It’s such a winter wonderland outside. Would love to see the photos you take later!

Walking on the treadmill is a daily part of my back recovery, and using my laptop has been a game changer. Getting the screen up to eye level makes such a difference for my posture—so much better than using a tablet. Sometimes, small adjustments make a big impact! #BackPain #Posture #Ergonomics

What’s been most helpful in your own recovery journey? If you’re dealing with back pain, I highly recommend Stuart McGill’s book Back Mechanic—it’s been a game-changer for me!

Just wrapped up a solid interval session on the Concept2 BikeErg: 12 × 500m with 45 seconds rest. Averaged a 1:51.5/1000m pace at 252 watts. Feeling strong and ready to push even harder next time—every session is one step closer to leveling up my VO₂ max! 🚴‍♂️ #Concept2 #BikeErg #Intervals

Thought I’d share this as my first post, after almost a year of just lurking: Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #2,142,471!
