the idea is that you play one of those little dandelion wisps. you float, then you land and the plant grows, and then you can float again... so you're floating through the world.

Some numbers I just dropped in one of the threads about "Itch should have already set up a high risk payment processor and been using it": these numbers are from 2010, but to the best of my knowledge have not substantially changed.

this is an incredibly important read and offers a realistic look at the situation with payment processors vs itch and steam... especially how powerless the storefront is.
it’s pretty dire.
please read and share this. it’s really good

I need to stop reading people's posts about the Itch thing because I just saw someone arguing with their whole chest the creator was clearly a billionaire and oh babies I have so much bad news for you about what it costs to run a platform of Itch's size (lots) and what their revenue is (little)

There's 3 big game stores in the western world.

Two are run by billionaires, take huge cuts & heavily limit which games can be published.

One is run by a tiny team, is free to use, open to all and is currently hosting a huge queer games bundle.

Guess which is being attacked for being "anti-LGBT".

Your colleague is publicly harassing one of our staff members on the assumption that misinformation that you published is true, despite us providing you with details descriptions of how our internal systems work in various bluesky threads over the past day.

We're sooo close to crossing $40,000 on the main bundle! But also feel free to pay $1,000 for it from your Scrooge McDuck money pool, if that's you. Let's cross into the next goal either way!

i’m sorry for being rude here but I’ve reached the end of the rope when it comes to my patience here.
this entire conversation is so disingenuous and ignorant.
fine, ok. you’ll all kill itch.io. we don’t deserve better after this.
I have never seen them support lgbtq+, could you link some example?

(Not that they have been against it either, but allowing and supporting are very different)

It’s just shitting more things up and I can’t even. We need Itch and sometimes you gotta roll with “humans fuck up trying to deal with chaos” not “they are evil” when the evidence entirely points to that, not the latter.

We. Need. Itch.

What the fuck are people doing?

I don't think we grapple enough with the fact there are a lot of people out there that will fed themselves into a metaphorical meat-grinder so they can have their daily dose of "drama".

itch.io is like the older internet, weird and wacky but also so inclusive.
itch.io has been nothing but supportive of LGBTQ+ work since the beginning. it pains me to see the community turn on them like this and so gleefully spread misinformation about them without even giving them a shred of benefit of the doubt.
