I don't really care if celebrities talk about politics or not but it bothers me when celebrities begrudge other celebrities talking about politics & act like they're brave for not speaking out

Oh, so you lot love films because you consider them important. Not because you actually enjoy the movies themselves. Got it. Yeah, that explains why some lists on here are so similar and lack personal taste.

Saying every war movie has to be Anti-war is like saying every musical has to be anti-musical. Obviously one has more effect on people's lives than the other but they're both just genres used to make compelling stories and characters
I never liked that Francois Truffaut quote about how it's impossible to make a anti-war film because film inherently glamorise war mostly because I would like a war film that has more complex things to say than just war is really bad. Plus by that logic you can't make a movie about anything bad

I know RT doesn't matter but it still bothers me how new critics view the OG predator since it has 65% when it used to have 80%

This is absolutely true. Especially if you don't bring back the entire creative team behind the original. But also, sensibilities have changed, the earnestness of the 90s has been replaced by a toxic, ironic sense of humor. The formula wouldn't work.
I could be wrong but I don't think it's possible to recapture something like THE MUMMY today. If they made it just as terrible everyone would hate it, if they made it actually good it wouldn't feel the same. Ask Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin. Shitty '90s blockbusters exist in their own bubble.

Speaking of Tchéky Karyo, I still feel not enough people on this side of the world have seen Jan Kounen's DOBERMANN, but you totally should. A deliciously grotesque spectacle that at times feels like a manga adaptation. Definitely check it out!

Unless you're already tired, nobody actually falls asleep watching a movie. If the movie is boring, your mind wanders & you focus on other things like your phone or whatever

Heard a podcast talking about The Aviator & one of the hosts said Howard Hughes was the Elon Musk of his time & I'm thinking "Elon Musk wishes!"

In this charming throwback to the classic era of Hollywood screwball comedies, John Landis places Stallone at the center of a murderer's row of superb character actors, drapes it all in a stunning Elmer Berstein score & pulls off a stylish period mob comedy that’s aged way better than you remember.

I will say, as I grow more and more picky with recent movies, I'm exploring older movies now. Stuff from the 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, 50s-- things I never got around to watching, now's a good time to do that since most of the new stuff doesn't really work for me.

It's funny how conservatives defense of Charlie Kirk is he just had opinions you disagreed with but then they say the rhetoric from the left regarding his death is dangerous. Is speech important or not?

As much as I like the equalizer movies, that character is absolutely a Mary Sue. He's always smarter than everyone, stronger than everyone & at no point are we ever to believe that he's in any real danger

When did the godfather become a Red flag for bros? It seems like every piece of Media (barbie, White Lotus, overcompensating) depicts any guy who likes it as a dumb jock which is weird because you'd think they'd find the godfather boring
