As this article says, regardless of whether this marks the beginning of an outbreak or not, it is an unprecedented warning.

The unprecedented H5N1 panzootic is a vast mutational training ground. Changes of this kind have never been seen since Hong Kong, 97.

When you refuse to believe that covid infections cause an increased risk of disability, you have to look for other explanations.

The #SARSCoV2 virus continue to infect those unfortunate enough to come into contact with it, and many are potentially being 'disabled' by the impact of the virus.

Millions of clinically vulnerable people are at much greater risk of Covid, millions with Long Covid (incl kids) live DRASTICALLY altered lives with SIGNIFICANTLY reduced quality of life & evidence accumulating that Covid = higher risk of cardiovascular disease & autoimmunity. 🧵

Healthcare agencies, hospitals, care homes, and schools [in fact, anywhere where large numbers of people mix together in poorly ventilated spaces], should be prepared for rising cases of influenza, RSV and COVID-19.
Actions, not inaction and indifference, matter.

Here's the latest variant picture for the United States.

The EG.5.* "Eris" variant (41%) has been dominant, and is still growing.

An early read on the recent growth of BA.2.86.1 "Pirola" gives it a growth advantage of 15% per day over EG.5.*, which predicts a crossover in a couple of weeks.

Rosalind Franklin discovered the DNA double helix in 1953, but never won a Nobel Prize due to sexism.

Katalin Karikó was kicked out & forced to retire from academia. 70 years after Franklin's discovery, Karikó was awarded the Nobel for developing lifesaving vaccines from another nucleic acid, mRNA.
Philly scientist behind COVID vaccine tech was demoted by UPenn, yet she persisted
Dismissed by many, Dr. Katalin Karikó remained passionate about mRNA therapeutics.
