It seems like the world is longing for pain of world wars, epidemics without vaccines, and other disasters. The West has had it too good for too long and the people have forgotten what it is that actually allows them to have their lives with relatively little suffering.
Nobody is guaranteeing anything. All of a sudden the far-right does well in an opinion poll and then the troops in Ukraine are withdrawn. Western Europe is not reliable. Has a useless track record. And is filled with closet pro-Russians.
