Just to clarify, you do not celebrate, but you also won't shed a tear for brutally murdered innocent civilians? And by "from the river to the sea", do you mean that there should be an Arab state in the entirety of Palestine, and the Jews... well, you won't mourn the casualties?

Rail isn't about total population-it's about concentration. Even a sparsely populated area could work if people lived in compact cities instead of spread thin across suburbs and countryside.

He's right, it's very American. And you're right, it's difficult for non-Americans to understand how much the US lacks accessible public transportation.
Also, I'm on the east coast and I think the only people using the train are the folks who are afraid of flying. The trains are slow and expensive.
