my trick for fast writing is to barf my thoughts onto a page in a list format that slowly turns into somewhat coherent sentences and then into somewhat coherent paragraphs with placeholder spots for words i cant think of yet. So I end up with things like:
[TK horrors]
[TK word for stupid and bad]

….so supposedly the Sheriff is auditing his officers’ searches monthly to make sure the searches are legit

With searches like this I’m not sure the auditing is working
‘Operation Pimp Juice,’ ‘Serial Beer Thief,’ and Grand Theft Excavator:
Some of the other weird sh*t local officers and agencies nationwide were searching for using Spokane County Flock cameras.

Good morning.

We’re at the Kootenai Co. Courthouse for day 3 of the Paul Trouette criminal trial for the February town hall incident.

It’s stormy in the panhandle this morning, but the power is on here.

We’re starting at 8:30 to see if Raul’s opinion will be entered into evidence. #idpol

This column title has me rereading Fahrenheit 451 and it makes so much sense why they make us read it in high school, it's so good.
Flockenheit 451: a new column from Lauren Pangborn on those pesky Flock cameras, why they have no place in a free society and what you can do locally to fight back against their pervasiveness:

ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

This story is so much more than "people took a plea deal." This was a hard choice between fighting for what they believe in and what each person can reasonably endure. It's also a hallmark of our justice system to put people in that position.
The plea deal turns a potential felony sentence that could mean six years in federal prison and $250,000 in fines into three years of probation and a few thousand dollars in restitution costs.
Four of the Spokane 9 accept plea deals – RANGE Media
ICE protestors facing federal charges made a hard choice, but some fear a chilling effect: ‘They want to frighten people so they are afraid to use their First Amendment rights.’

From the smoke-choked June 11 protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Spokane to the packed parks and sidewalks at multiple No Kings protests, 2025 has been filled with people exercising their right to protest the US government. Local Flock cameras were used to surveil these protests.

I'm still getting used to it, but Qobuz is pretty good and is allegedly one of the more ethical streaming platforms. It's really easy to port your playlists over too!
Tidal is also allegedly a more ethical option.

The threats from unchecked AI are real — worker displacement, corporate surveillance, invasion of privacy, environmental destruction, unmanned warfare.

Today, a tiny number of billionaires are shaping the future of AI behind closed doors. That is unacceptable. That must change.

We're getting Papa Murphy's for the first time tonight and I'm trying to be open minded but I'm leaning toward it being a scam that it's the same price as Papa John's/Domino's and I still have to go home and cook it.

ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

How to take alt transport to downtown if you don't know how:
- use the different mode options in Google maps to see real time bus routes and bike routes
- try your new transport mode on a low stakes and fun trip (ie brunch on a Saturday)
- start leveling up from there (ie using the bus for appts)
I feel like it’s getting lost that driving downtown is a *CHOICE.*

If you don’t want to pay a modest parking tax, don’t drive downtown! Take the bus! Walk! Bike! Take a scooter!
November 25, 2025 at 2:37 PM
I feel like i end up parking downtown about ~1x/ week on average but I don't know the last time I used a surface parking lot. (The last time I tried, I moved my car after I saw the price.) Street parking is usually plentiful and cheaper and won't get this tax!
Dana Harbaugh, a downtown business and property owner, is against the tax. Downtown is the heart of Spokane, he said, and when it falters, the consequences "ripple outwards." He thinks the tax will discourage tenants and consumers from choosing downtown. (There is an exemption for resident parking)
