Arctic heat. Jan Mayen (70,58N) set with 7.9C as medium temperature a new heat record for July. Old record: 7.4C 2014. The record stood still from 1924 to 2014, but has now increased with 1.0C since 2014. All three warmest july since 2014, and 10 of 12since 2002. Graph: seklima.met.no

Unreal, but true: No, this is not a fake photo. A container ship hit land just eight meters from a house in Trondheimsfjorden in the middle part of Norway Thursday morning, at the outskirts of Trondheim. A couple was sleeping inside the house and did not hear anything!

I think that changes to how the rainfall is distributed over Earth's surface - being concentrated into smaller surface area - is one reason for more floods like this. See www.nature.com/articles/s41... and references therein.

We did an analysis on heatwaves and their effect on wheat in India some years ago ascmo.copernicus.org/articles/4/3...: wheat doesn't thrive when the weather gets too hot.

En forklaring til mer tørke er at nedbøren faller over et areal som krymper med global oppvarming, i tillegg til at høyere temperaturer øker fordampningen. Se doi.org/10.1038/s416... og referansene i denne studien. Måten nedbøren fordeler seg på er ofte ikke omtalt av mediene.

The 12-month running mean global temperature anomaly has fallen slightly from its peak (temporary), which is mostly in response to cooler conditions over the equatorial Pacific during the last year (weak La Niña)
