Manic Spreadsheeter (ist? izer?). Likes old anime dubs, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and that weird sticky goo that holds magazine inserts in place. Frequently wrong.

huke’s artwork for the original Steins;Gate is truly unique, and is one of the defining characteristics of the game. MAGES’ continual, repeated efforts to simplify and genericize the artwork have always baffled me. It’s like the 4th time they’ve done this now.
absolutely insane aura loss in the new re:boot CGs

The Netflix Detective Conan dub’s persistence in calling him “Phantom Thief One Thousand Four Hundred and Twelve” like some crappy text-to-speech software is almost impressive.

(…everyone calls him “Phantom Thief Fourteen Twelve” right? That’s not just me? Be real embarrassing if it was…)

Imagining the alternate universe in which Angels Egg got a UK VHS release in the 90s, somehow resulting in one of those extremely British licensed microcomputer games in which you have to collect 800 bottles for some reason only tangentially related to the actual movie.

Is anyone else still waiting on their Dirty Pair replacement discs with not even a tracking number? Really don’t want to have to deal with Crunchyroll support again…

Random discovery of the day: Apparently back in 2006 Nielsen tracked anime dvd sales, and the top 10 list has a few surprises.

(reposted) Fun fact: Tomoko Saitou (cartoonist and wife of Torren Smith) used the pseudonym "Asuka Rei" in the late 80s, according to Animag #4 (1988). Considering Smith's connection to Gainax, I wonder if that had any influence on Evangelion.

Behind every classified ad is a story.
And I *really* want to hear the story of a guy willing to sell everything he owns in order to buy a radio station.

IMO, there needs to be a scale, as it’s often more complex than even that.

Made this in 5 minutes (and likely has serious issues), but i think i got the general point across

Was recently made aware that there is one more Detective Conan film with an English-friendly release: Dimensional Sniper, and had to grab it.

Licensed by Odex and distributed by Poh Kim on Singaporean DVD in 2014, this set features the JP dub with English and Chinese subs

Weird backwards DVD case…

So how many times do I need to watch the new Netflix batch of Detective Conan episodes on loop to juice the streaming numbers so the impossible happens and TMS/Discotek give us another Blu-ray.

(The Tubi dubbed episodes are already gone. I don’t want the series to slip away again.)

Just got out of Angel’s Egg. Beautiful film, but I think it may have given me short term hearing loss.

Now, my favorite part of any artsy film, the “is it really that abstract, or am I just stupid?” google search.

Oooh you thought that Animag was the first published anime magazines in America, NOT SO, thanks to @clarissag.bsky.social, we now have a nicely canned copy of the first anime magazine, Anime-Zine, from 1986, another addition to the #OtakuArchive. archive.org/details/anim...

If this leads to any of the (many) Carnage Heart games getting another shot at life, that would be neat. English-wise, The very first one made it here on the PS1 courtesy of Sony, and I think NIS America did a digital-only release of the PSP one.

Slowly going insane as I try and catalog the different variations of the 1998 Ghost in the Shell DVD (UPC 780063552929). I'm up to 6 variants, and I'm pretty sure there's at least one or two more...

Thankfully, they're all dirt cheap, so I've ordered a few to get good scans of.
