Congratulations to Kathryn Rahlwes and the rest of the team on the new preprint from our group. We identify USP15, a deubiquitinase, as a key brake on macrophage immunity to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). Remove it, and macrophages control Mtb far more effectively.

Deubiquitinase USP15 restricts autophagy and macrophage immunity to Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Autophagy enables macrophages to degrade intracellular Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), and this defense depends on E3 ubiquitin ligases such as PARKIN and SMURF1, which tag Mtb-associated structures...

You might be forgiven for thinking its a picture of some clinic staff, but these dedicated professionals strive to deliver a unique low barrier access to HIV care, making us one of a handful locations in the country to offer this care model! @bradcutrellmd.bsky.social

🦠💨 Why do some TB strains make you cough more? Cough isn’t just an annoying sign and symptom of active tuberculosis - it’s one way that Mycobacterium tuberculosis spreads from person to person. 1/14

Our finale (to give us strength doing HIV/ID work in Texas 2025):

"I will survive,
Long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive,
I've got my life to live
And all my love to give and
I will survive!"

One of my approaches when we have residents/students/pharmD residents is to mention a key article/study and then have one of the trainees (not the busy ID fellow!) review and give a brief summary (3-5 mins) the next day.

Everybody on team learns and find it more engaging.

What is the correct # of articles for attending to send ID fellow after rounds? #IDSky
