Christians, if you’re celebrating mass deportations of distraught, exhausted human beings seeking refuge, you probably shouldn't be sweetly singing about a baby with "no crib for a bed."

Along with so many others, we are #HoldingSpace for these lyrics from Defying Gravity. When faced with the insurmountable obstacles of a corrupt supermajority that controls all aspects of government, it might seem like defying gravity to stand in opposition to them... but nevertheless, we do! #UTPol

Super-red areas of Utah are turning blue, but somehow the Utah Democratic Party still isn't running state-level candidates in these areas.

Seriously, they just need to get a moderate-to-left leaning guy named Anderson to run in these places.

Utah take note: This is how you work to solve the homeless epidemic.
Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

This is a very important thing to recognize!
The right exploits the gap in the narrative and uses it as a wedge. It’s not new. It’s the most consistent tool they’ve used to erode support for Democratic policy over and over again.

Was there a red or blue shift in Utah? Slightly more red but not by much, while Democrats celebrate small local wins in Salt Lake, Summit counties.

Gov. Cox’s immigration announcement raises concerns about his “zero tolerance” approach to migrants who have “committed crimes.” These terms are subjective and relative, often shaped by fear-driven rhetoric. Such policies risk dehumanizing communities based on harmful and fictional narratives.

Many of these projects from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law have been happening right here in Utah!! This is a good thing!!!

"In the last month, we've moved billions of dollars & funded 100s of projects, & that will continue until the closing bell. We have several large, high-profile grant programs that we’re working on to be able to announce the winning projects in the coming weeks.”

History tells us, progress thrives under oppression. Remember, Pride began as a riot against police injustice—a courageous stand that sparked a movement. Every step forward has faced resistance, yet hope & action have always prevailed. Don’t lose heart; our fight for justice and equality continues!

One thing I am leaning on for solace right now in this terrifying cultural moment is that a cherished mentor told me once “Progressivism is at its best when it is an insurgent force” because boy are we going to have to channel that kind of righteous energy in the years ahead folks

Utah wasn’t always a one-party state. Decades ago, it had a balanced, bipartisan government. But mid-20th century Cold War fears and progressive cultural shifts sparked a rise in political conservatism, reshaping Utah’s political landscape in ways that still impact the state today.

Supermajorities might seem like a good idea to those in power, but they undermine democracy. When one party dominates, the government no longer represents all people. It becomes an echo chamber, ignoring dissenting voices and alternative ideas. Let’s explore why balance matters for Utah.

They started to obfuscate low turnout precincts in the summary results .csv (just so nosey neighbors can discern who voted for whom) — so I’ll fil in those details when I have more time.

CENSUS TABLE: For those less familiar with Utah County, it is fast-growing, increasingly highly-educated, and less-LDS (Mormon) over time.
Utah County has swung +39 points 2012-2024, one of the biggest shifts in Utah, which in turn has swung the left most of any US state since 2012.

And here are Utah County city-level 2024 election results plus swings since 2020 & 2012.

2020-24: All cities swung from +0 to D +6 except for Vineyard, the only city to really shift right (R +6), a bit of headscratcher given 2012-2022 trends there.

2012-24: Provo has swung D +53, most of any city.
