They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida.

If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.

Where we are in history RIGHT NOW is a place we’ve been before.

The below plaque speaks to a pivotal moment in our history, and someone that had the courage to speak against blind hatred, in the face of what we say we stand for.

@georgetakei.bsky.social knows.

We can’t let history repeat.

This is my not-shocked face.
Among the provisions tucked into the bill House Republicans passed this week is a move to limit the power of federal judges to hold people in contempt, potentially shielding the Trump administration from the consequences of violating court orders. Here's what else the GOP slipped into the bill.

Did staffing cuts at weather service affect Kentucky’s tornado response?
Due to staffing shortages, the National Weather Service in Jackson no longer has overnight staff. But NWS and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear say the office was staffed Friday night and early Saturday.

My personal "5 years since the start of Covid" moment is remembering that in 2020, the US discovered it had allowed almost all its mask and PPE manufacturing to transfer to China for cost savings.

In 2025, PPE is still almost all made offshore, and we just encouraged China to end shipments to us.
