UK looking to implement VKT charge for EVs. Road pricing one EV at a time is coming, as long foretold.
I don’t think think “estimated road use” is right approach - at the least drivers should have the *option* of getting a black box fitted that just tracks their EVs usage, but come on, Mel, impersonate a serious politician!

I believe the 2 most important city mayoral elections in the world will be tomorrow’s New York City Election (the most important turning point #VOTE in New York history? #VOTEMamdani) & next year’s Paris Election for the successor of this generation’s most important/influential mayor, Anne Hidalgo.

Fun fact. Trump destruction of soybean exports (rightfully) gets lots of attention. But you know what we sell even more of to China? Education.
2024 soybean exports to China: $13B.
Higher Ed: $14B.
Yes, all those internat’l students count as *exports.* Trump is STILL actively destroying that market.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday that he anticipates that China will revive substantial purchases of U.S. soybeans for several years and will delay its expanded licensing regime for rare earths by a year and re-examine it after two days of trade talks in Malaysia.

When @alonlevy.bsky.social and i started working together, we both thought that a wall of text with a picture and maybe a chart/table was advanced design. We know that’s wrong. We attempted to take our NEC work and add some good design. We are very happy with how this came out: nec.transitcosts.com

This billboard misses the point entirely.
We should be designing cities where adding 15,000 new neighbors doesn't automatically mean adding 15,000 more cars. The goal is to build places so good that people are freed from the necessity of driving.

Age and gender distortion in online media and large language models - Nature
Stereotypes of age-related gender bias are socially distorted, as evidenced by the age gap in the representations of women and men across various media and algorithms, despite no systematic age differences in the workforce.
