The thing that's never sat with me re:criticism about Expedition 33 being "baby's first JRPG" is that the people who actually made the game couldn't be more consistently reverent about their influences.
Accepting the 'Game of the Year' award for Clair Obscur Expedition 33, director Guillaume Broche thanks Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi who "made me fall in love with games and inspired me to become a game dev."

The chromebook might be the worst invention that doesn't contain any major poisons. We made a laptop that you can only watch youtube videos on and if you touch it you have to go the burn ward. Every five year old has to have one

Remember getting taken to see Lucy the Elephant when I was like 6 and just getting angry. We drove for like an hour to go see this *awesome, huge* elephant that you can GO INSIDE AND EXPLORE!! And when you do it's like a small empty oval of space with nothing in it
