My mini library. My shelves are organized by historical events, nonfiction and historical fiction. The small case on the side and the three books on the bottom of the 3rd large case is my TBR mountain .

I have some exciting news to impart… I think! I am currently writing a historical fiction novel about Elizabeth Woodville✨ My ambition is to also write about Anne and Isabelle Neville, Margaret Beaufort, Jacquetta of Luxembourg and I’m thinking Margaret of burgundy!

How exquisite are these illuminations of Queen #CatherineofAragon & King #HenryVIII? From Catherine’s Book of Hours by Jean Pichore, c.1509, likely commissioned for her wedding by her sisters. @onthetudortrail.bsky.social thank you so much for showing me! guenther-rarebooks.com/artworks/984...

I wholeheartedly agree with this! When I started researching for my first book, I thought, "Can I really do this?" Now I've finished the first draft, and I'm sorting out image permissions. Do the research, tell the stories you want to tell, and the rest will follow.
I get quite a lot of emails and DMs from people asking for advice on writing books or giving talks. My answer is always "if I can do it, you definitely can".

I don't think there's a magic answer. Hard work and passion can take you far. Bet on yourself.

Napoleon's Toothbrush, c.1790. Napoleon brushed his teeth regularly using opium-based toothpaste. His toothbrush has a silver gilt handle and bristles made of horsehair, which would have been very rough on the gums. #skystorians
