Nice to see that Pola Negri was determined to get into character as Catherine the Great in the 1924 silent film Forbidden Paradise. In a plot centred on revolutions, rebellions & romance she turned to Women Who ruled the World: 5000 Years of Female Monarchy for source material #womenwhoruledtheworld

If you’ve read my book about Honor Lisle, please consider leaving a review on Amazon. I had a lot of lovely reviews on NetGalley but they haven’t transferred. It helps new readers decide whether to buy the book, which in turn helps me ☺️ Even just a few words helps. Thank you.

This ghost was photographed in the Queen’s House at Greenwich in 1966. Is that a book they’re holding? Women Who Ruled the World: 5000 Years of Female Monarchy, a fitting read for a ghostly queen. Thanks for the endorsement Queen’s House Ghost & Happy Halloween! #womenwhoruledtheworld

Empress Elizaveta of Russia was renowned for her lively court. But, sometimes, you just want to read & she’s loving Women Who Ruled the World: 5000 Years of Female Monarchy. Now, if only she can get everyone to keep the noise down. Thanks for the endorsement Elizaveta! #womenwhoruledtheworld

When not nailing heads onto spikes or ordering witchcraft ordeals, Ranavalona I of Madagascar liked to read… just not the Bible, as that was banned (to the horror of Queen Victoria). Here she is with her favourite book, Women Who Ruled the World: 5000 Years of Female Monarchy #womenwhoruledtheworld

Sorry Robert Dudley, in England there will be but one mistress & no master. It looks like Elizabeth I has been reading Women Who Ruled the World: 5000 Years of Female Monarchy, including stories of some horrendous royal marriages. Unsurprisingly, she’s not keen to share power #womenwhoruledtheworld

Why do people enjoy reading historical fiction so much? And why can it rouse such strong responses?

“This could've been a dry-as-dust recitation, but it's anything but, being infused with the author's warmth and clear -interest- in the period and in her subjects.”

Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, world’s most recent child queen, & Queen Victoria look as though they are enjoying each other’s company immensely. Luckily, they had both brought a book to read. Women Who Ruled the World: 5000 Years of Female Monarchy in which they both feature #womenwhoruledtheworld

Catherine the Great thought her husband Peter childish & boring. She found that the audiobook of Women Who Rules the World: 5000 Years of Female Monarchy, which launched today, drowned him out nicely

I’ve been teaching the Tudors at A Level for 15 years. This book means I understand two fifteenths and tenths for the first time. Everyone just assumes you know what this tax is, and no one knows who to ask! Also, there’s a good contextual overview of England v France since 1066 #historyteacher
