A lot of games only exist because of someone's spouse supporting them, rich parents, lucky stock breaks or other independent wealth. Which is great for them but leaves a lot of people, their experiences and stories out in the cold.
Excellent piece by @bryantfrancis.me but I have one amendment to make to a suggestion from the quoted source. We really need to start attributing success to its actual underpinnings, rather than romanticizing what we want it to mean.
