Defying Trump, banks & investors boost renewables as they recoil from fossil fuel stock!
Oil and gas (down 2% since the start of this year) and clean energy (up 19%). The previous five-year returns were the opposite: the oil and gas fund was up 20%, while the clean fund fell 0.2%.

This I did not know.
Ever heard of Eunice Foote, born today in 1819?

An incredible woman -scientist, inventor, & women's rights campaigner

Significantly, Foote was the first to show that rising CO2 levels could increase atmospheric temperature and affect climate, although rarely credited for this discovery

With all the tragic news going on these days, here an amusing anniversary to consider. Had anyone considered meeting ICE agents with cream pies? Just wondering
Praise be! It’s the 112th anniversary of the first custard pie thrown in someone’s face in a motion picture

God does get a lot of undeserved blame!
With various disasters in the news lately, a reminder that all so called "natural disasters" are in fact a complex combination of environmental factors, government response, and on the ground reactions. No disaster is purely "natural" or "an act of god." #envhist

Friends, I've been alarmed at the steamroller that has shut down American science funding and silenced its dissemination. I've done my best to make it clear and short, but sadly, not-so-sweet. Please take a look. Thank you.

I was explaining to my Ukrainian colleague the phrase ‘There’s no such thing as a free lunch’. She told me the equivalent in Ukrainian is ‘The only free cheese is in the mousetrap’ - which is so much better

Hmmm. Anyone up for digesting a bit of ancient history?
Tuh'u - an ancient Babylonian stew found on a stone tablet. Has beets (and leaves), onion, arugula (a mustard cousin), beer (dark porter), leek, golden beets, cumin, coriander, garlic, and chicken thighs. 🍽️ 🍜 #food #cooking

Here's a good friend quoting an old and sadly departed friend...
During the UK heatwave of 2003, climate scientist, Sir John Houghton, said that the heatwave summer would be an average summer by 2050 and a cool summer by 2080. We are on the way.

@lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com Lawrence - can we talk about recalling members of Congress? Why do we have to wait until the midterms? I'm sure you have some experts who would love to discuss!
