🚨BREAKING🌍🌡️📈

New Science paper finds that the increase in Absorbed Solar Radiation from decreasing low altitude clouds is responsible for 0.2°C additional warming!

0.12°C of that over Northern Hemisphere mid-latitudes.

In line with the aerosol termination shock we feared!

A tug-of-war between the natural and anthropogenic signals has led to a near stalling of the AMOC weakening since the early 2010s. 🌊🧪: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

If everyone would just stop fighting, there would be peace on Earth! 🕊

Not realistic?

Try to genuinely imagine what it would take to realize net zero in time to keep global warming below 2.0°C.

We are crossing 1.5°C as we speak.

Let's keep it real!

When emissions stop, warming (likely) stops.

Exacerbated summer European warming not captured by climate models neglecting long-term aerosol changes

Models don't take into account the reduction of aerosols over western-central Europe and underestimate regional warming by ~0.5 °C!!

And summer warming by ~1.0 °C!

Exacerbated summer European warming not captured by climate models neglecting long-term aerosol changes - Communications Earth & Environment
Aerosol misrepresentations in many regional climate models largely explain why their simulations underestimate the summer warming in Western Europe in the past 40 years, according to a multi-model ana...

Our work exploring the impact of changes in shipping emissions on 2023 temperatures is now published on ESD. We used the CESM2 LENS and performed new simulations including changes in SOx, unlike the originals. Here are our findings 🧵
Modeling 2020 regulatory changes in international shipping emissions helps explain anomalous 2023 warming
Abstract. The summer of 2023 saw an anomalous increase in temperatures even when considering the ongoing greenhouse-gas-driven warming trend. Here we demonstrate that regulatory changes to sulfate emi...
