Many of us want to stay in good physical and cognitive health in our later years. Winning the genetic lottery can help in that quest.

But even if you don’t have the genes linked to longevity, you can increase your chances of aging well with certain lifestyle choices. https://wapo.st/3YhuPE6

Antisemitism is a lot like Qanon child abuse conspiracies in that there’s this real and bad phenomenon and, parallel to that, what can only be described as a large scale mass psychosis about a mostly fictional version of the same phenomenon

Vance spent years being fellated and fawned over as this intellectual titan of the New Right with piercing insights into the American psyche that you just HAD to pay attention to, and he really is just the most vilely demagogic bottom-feeder we've seen in national politics in a long, long time.
WELKER: Are you looking at invoking the Insurrection Act?

VANCE: We have to remember we are talking about this bc crime has gotten out of control

W: Crime is down in both Chicago & Portland

V: Crime is down bc they are so overwhelmed at the local level they are not even keeping stats properly

“Is it that the Chief Justice doesn’t accept that the Court is losing credibility on a daily basis; that he thinks the Court doesn’t need that credibility in order to fulfill its intended role in our constitutional system; or that he doesn’t care?”

Me on John Roberts as his Court turns 20 today:
180. The Roberts Court Turns 20
The Supreme Court is much less popular and much more divisive today than it was when John Roberts was sworn in as the 17th Chief Justice on September 29, 2005. And at least much of that is his fault.

A totalitarian movement must never achieve its goals, as that would eliminate the need for the movement itself. Even in victory, new enemies must be created in order to justify further cruelty and domination.
A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

I will never forget watching *hours* of news coverage with my dad that night, *all* of which took it for granted that he would drop out of the race that night, and both of just being baffled by the assumption.

I'm not always right, but man, I think I called it that time.

1. OK, so this is the ninth book in this very pulpy space opera, right? But it actually mostly takes place in an office building, and is about the protagonist having a midlife crisis and nervous breakdown. I am in absolute fucking awe of how good it is, and can't describe it without sounding insane.

Part of the problem for Thomas Chatterton Williams is that he styles himself as an American cultural critic despite having lived in France since Obama's first term.

He has no connection to contemporary American culture outside of Online. He is simply Ian Miles Cheong with better PR.

VOUGHT: If they were a company, their stock price would in shambles. They in some respects caused the pandemic. You have an entire institute that does nothing more than DEI research at the NIH.
