Distance between NYC and Miami is around 1200 miles. The trip on Amtrak's Silver Meteor takes 28.5 hours and costs $170 one-way.
It’s over 1,000km from Berlin to Paris

There’s now a direct daytime train between them, that takes 8 hours and costs just €59. Leave at 10am, arrive 6pm.

And… it’s just 1% the carbon emissions of the equivalent flight

High-speed Paris-Berlin daily train service debuts
The route is the first directly linking the two capitals' city centres.

Solar is powering renewables growth worldwide ☀️

Solar PV alone is set to account for 80% of new renewable capacity added globally between now & 2030

This comes from new large power plants & rooftop solar panel installations by households & businesses 👉 https://iea.li/3Bo7AAl

I did this a few months back mostly because I got a chuckle comparing it to the gas tax gas can stunts pulled before the carbon tax increase (but this actually does save some $).
While I do believe we should adjust the registration fees so that EV drivers pay a fair share this isn’t a fair way 1/

Sask. has no plans to follow federal clean energy regulations despite shared 2050 goal
Saskatchewan says the feds have no jurisdiction to regulate electricity generation but a court challenge likely won't be that clear cut.

Also Insurance companies are going to be charging and building it into their billing as they cut coverage due to climate change.

We just won't know how much more we're paying.

Advanced geothermal. Watch this technology.
A lot of people still don’t realize that dramatic cost reductions in geothermal is something happening *right now*, not theoretically in the future.

Here is a look at the cost numbers published by NREL every year for Deep Enhanced Geothermal. A 50% improvement in 2024 with a lot more to come.

One of the most important and overlooked trends of 2024:

Enhanced geothermal costs have fallen 50%.

This technology could provide 24/7 clean power all around the world. It could be one of the most important technologies of the 21st century.

But still completely overlooked.

What do you think?

After electing the guy who is going to axe the tax, which will result in exactly nothing as far as saving us all money, the people who fell prey to this misinformation will:
a - demand an explanation or
b - shrug and move on
Trudeau government’s carbon price has had ‘minimal’ effect on inflation and food costs, study concludes
Carbon pricing had a small impact on the rate of inflation over the past five years, when the climate policy was responsible for a "small fraction" of the surge in

This is my speech on the failure of leaders to step up at this time.
