I also love when you're about a third of the way through and realize the whole thing is an advertisement for some proprietary middleware
I love tutorials that are like...
Step 1: clone this repo of a complete web application
Step 2: (with no context) add this line here and this line here
Step 3: ????
Step 4: profit!!!

Just took the annual State of JS 2025 survey!

Looking forward to finding out how out-of-touch I am with the majority, which is gonna be men that use AI to generate React code in TypeScript

Insane to me that I will see someone respond to a question on the internet with “ChatGPT says…” because LLMs are fundamentally not a reliable source on any subject. All they have been programmed to do is construct random sentences that seem plausible. They are literally just making things up.

It’s shameful to see US government agencies act as puppets for the right-wing fascists. Hopefully there will be consequences for violating the Hatch Act, but until then click “subscribe” to block these accounts:

Does The Simpsons still start every episode with a perfunctory chalkboard punishment gag? Even though that hasn't been a thing in like 20 years? Are chalkboards even a thing any more?

If you want to guess Bari Weiss's take on any political issue, just assume whoever has more power in the situation is right and then write a condescending rationalization of why they are the real victim.

It's good to know that, even if Trump were to start assassinating journalists and implemented migrant slavery, there's a large subset of popular comedians and musicians that would perform censored acts at his propaganda circus show if they were given enough oil money.

All the cryptocurrency influencers can't shut up about decentralization, so how come they're all on Twitter (centralized) and not on Bluesky or Mastadon (decentralized)? We know why.

I don't think LLMs have 0% utility but with AI infrastructure being twice that of consumer spending, maybe the bubble pops and takes the US economy down with it. That doesn't seem worth it to me.

Wouldn't it be cool if we spent $150,000,000,000 on trains instead? Think of the ROI!

Trump will endorse Cuomo but Jeffries and Schumer can't endorse the Democratic nominee? Perfect encapsulation of why Democrats keep losing.

Columbus wasn’t Italian, didn’t discover the Americas and never touched any land that would become the USA
This is how Murdoch media manufactures stories out of thin air to attack Democrats. This is what they do on Fox and plan to do in California.

i've been trying in vain to pinpoint what it is about ai that makes me feel so awful, and i think

'ai's most dominant feature is that it's nonconsensual'

is it. wielded largely by people for whom consent is but an annoying obstacle
"In the United States, AI's most dominant feature is that it is nonconsensual. That is its most prominent characteristic."

Consent is the antithesis of this place (it's all implied the minute you check a ballot box, with no accountability or recourse).

Gentrification can refer to either the economic improvement of an area or its cultural displacement. Most of the time, the former leads to the latter. But necessarily so? At some point the conversations break down because someone argues making a neighborhood better makes the neighborhood worse
